SILVER LAKE CATFISH OUTING
Sunday September 16th
Sunday Sept 16 was our annual catfish outing at Silver Lake. Thanks to John Lepkowski for setting up this event with the trustees at Silver Lake. Twenty members fished the outing and caught around 68 catfish ranging in size from 8 inches to 27 1/2 inches. The fishing picked up around noon once we got a little more wind to help with the drift.
The weather was sunny and calm..... a great weather day for September.
11boats were launched from 7:30 to 8:30 and the outing started with lines in the water at 8:30 and lines out at 2:30. Measurements of the largest catfish took place on the wall by Eric Babb. Bernie Babb was in waders and helped put boats on trailers.
First place was won by Eric Babb with 2 fish measuring 27 1/2 inches as there was a tie with the first fish weighed. Second place was Don Hoffman with 27 1/2 and 26 1/2 inches. Third place was won by Mike Abbott with 27 inch fish. Fourth place was Mike Greathouse with 26 3/4 inches.
I would like to thank all members who fished the outing and obeyed the rules. We are very lucky to be able to fish this private Lake each year for catfish. Again all should thank John Lepkowski for his involvement in making this great outing happen. Thanks John!!!!
